Glossary
To help better understand important psoriasis terms and definitions, please refer to the glossary below.
Clobetasol – generic name for a steroid medication often used to treat psoriasis and other skin conditions like eczema, atopic dermatitis, etc.
Clobex® – brand name for steroid medication clobetasol propionate, an FDA-approved treatment for psoriasis and other moderate to severe psoriasis that responds to corticosteroid treatment.
Dermatitis – general term for certain kinds of itchy, red, inflamed skin conditions. There are many types of dermatitis.
Dermatoses – general term for any skin abnormality or the appearance of lesions on the skin.
Eczema – a specific variety of skin disorders that cause itchiness, red, scaling, weeping, oozing skin. Also called atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, hand dermatitis and asteatotic eczema.
Erythema – skin redness and inflammation.
Plaque – red, thickened areas on the skin. Common in some types of psoriasis.
